Rare Disease Center
For a Higher Standard of Care
Patients with rare diseases have often had to visit multiple hospitals for diagnosis due to the limited availability of specialized medical institutions, sometimes undergoing the same tests repeatedly. In addition, because rare diseases often require multidisciplinary care involving specialists from various fields, even after receiving a diagnosis, patients may need to visit different hospitals for surgery, rehabilitation, or other treatments.
Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) is ideally positioned to address these challenges in rare disease care through the following strengths.
Extensive Clinical Experience
SNUH has accumulated extensive clinical experience by providing care for a large number of patients with rare diseases from across Korea.
World-Class Medical Professionals
Our multidisciplinary team comprises world-class medical professionals specializing in diagnosis, pharmacological treatment, surgery, rehabilitation, and other areas of care.
State-of-the-Art Diagnostic and Treatment Technologies
SNUH has been at the forefront of introducing and developing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. More recently, we have established specialized infrastructure, including a Pediatric Clinical Trial Center, to facilitate the application of the latest treatment technologies.
Rare Disease Research
As the lead institution of the Rare Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Program designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, SNUH plays a leading role in rare disease research.
Building on these outstanding professionals, extensive experience, and advanced capabilities, the SNUH Rare Disease Center was established to provide patients with rare diseases with an even higher standard of care.
