Personalized Cancer Care Center

At the Personalized Cancer Treatment Center of Seoul National University (SNU) Cancer Hospital

Our medical professionals, with extensive clinical experience and specialized expertise in cancer genomics, provide personalized treatment for patients with cancer and connect eligible patients with clinical trials of targeted anticancer therapies.

Pursuing Accurate Diagnosis and Optimal Personalized Treatment Through Genetic Testing

Cancer is a disease caused by inherited and acquired genetic alterations. It can arise from mutations in tumor suppressor genes or oncogenes, and accurately identifying the mutations responsible for cancer development can help guide diagnosis and treatment. In particular, advances in cost-effective testing technologies based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) have enabled a wide range of genetic tests to be used extensively in clinical practice.

Genetic testing can benefit patients with cancer in a variety of clinical situations, including:

  • ① Determining whether a cancer is hereditary when hereditary cancer is strongly suspected because of an early age at onset or a family history of cancer
  • ② Establishing a definitive diagnosis by identifying specific genetic alterations when the diagnosis is uncertain
  • ③ Identifying targeted therapies and appropriate precision-medicine clinical trials for patients with treatment-resistant cancer who have limited therapeutic options
  • ④ Selecting the most appropriate treatment when multiple therapeutic options are available

Providing Patients with a Wide Range of Treatment Options

The Personalized Cancer Treatment Center performs not only conventional genetic tests approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety but also genetic testing based on NGS technologies. In collaboration with the Research-Driven Hospital program and the Oncology Clinical Trials Center, we also provide patients with opportunities to participate in a wide range of clinical trials of targeted anticancer therapies.

SNU Cancer Hospital is the leading institution for clinical trials in Korea and conducts studies across a broad spectrum of cancer types and molecular targets, including trials of anticancer drugs, vaccines, and cellular therapies. Based on the results of testing performed at the Personalized Cancer Treatment Center, patients may gain access to these diverse therapeutic options.
